Over the coming days, our clinical leadership team will be programming each pump, completing system setup, and conducting in-service education with our paramedics. Our goal is to have these devices placed into service as quickly as possible, bringing even greater precision and safety to medication administration in the field. These investments reflect our continued commitment to innovation, clinical excellence, and giving our crews the tools they need to provide exceptional patient care.

Earlier today, we received an incredibly kind email from one of our motocross families at The Wick following a serious on-track incident several weeks ago. A special shoutout goes to EMTs Andrew Logsdon and Clark Filepas, along with Chief/Paramedic Pav Gut, who was making his rounds at the track when the incident occurred and immediately initiated ALS-level care. Their quick actions, teamwork, and professionalism helped ensure the rider received the highest level of care possible during a very difficult situation. We are grateful for the trust that riders, families, and The Wick place in us every weekend. It is truly an honor to serve as the medical provider for The Wick and work alongside their outstanding staff, whose commitment to rider safety is second to none. 🏁🚑 Day 1 of 3 at the Loretta Lynn Qualifiers at The Wick Motocross! 🚑🏁 Our ALS crews are on-site all weekend, providing advanced medical coverage and standing ready for whatever the track throws our way. Chiefs Alex and Pavel Gut covered Day 1 and responded to a significant trauma incident that required transport to a local Level I Trauma Center. While nobody likes to see a rider go down, we’re proud to be there when it matters most—delivering high-quality care to the athletes who put everything on the line chasing their dreams. Motocross is fast, demanding, and unforgiving. That’s why we’re honored to serve as the premium ambulance provider for one of the best tracks in the sport. From minor injuries to major emergencies, our team is ready to answer the call. Good luck to all the riders as qualifying continues! 🤘🏍️💨

Over the weekend, Chiefs Alex and Pavel Gut participated in a two-day Level 1 Venomous Snake Handling Course! 🐍 Both chiefs share a huge passion for reptiles and personally keep several species of their own, making this an exciting and educational opportunity. The course focused on the basic identification of venomous snake species, proper handling and containment techniques, and important safety practices when working around these incredible animals. The training also covered basic first aid for snake bites along with education on the different types of antivenom available. Participants also discussed relocation guidelines for venomous snakes, emergency preparedness planning, and the safe keeping and responsible management of these animals to ensure the safety of both handlers and the public. Day two consisted of a morning time exam and then gave participants the opportunity to safely handle several venomous species under professional supervision — an unforgettable experience and a chance to further respect and understand these beautiful animals. Training included hands-on experience with native New England species such as Timber Rattlesnakes and Copperheads, providing valuable insight into the venomous snakes that can be encountered right here in our region. While encounters involving venomous snakes are certainly not a common occurrence in EMS for our area, Western Mass is home to venomous snakes, and knowledge is power. We hope to bring some of the information learned from this course into the EMS field through future education opportunities and training for providers. Expanding knowledge outside the “normal” EMS environment helps us stay prepared for the unexpected — and keeps learning fun along the way! 🚑🐍
