24-Hour Dispatch & Operations center
Chapin Ambulance maintains a 24-hour Dispatch and Operations Center to assist with ambulance transportation requests, facility coordination, wheelchair transportation, event standby scheduling, and other service-related needs.
Our dispatch team works closely with healthcare facilities, patients, families, municipalities, and community partners to help coordinate the appropriate level of service based on the patient’s needs, destination, timing, and available resources.
For medical emergencies, always call 911. For scheduled transports, facility requests, event coverage, wheelchair transportation, or general service questions, our dispatch team is available to help coordinate the appropriate response.
Advanced Life Support
Chapin Ambulance is licensed to provide Advanced Life Support ambulance services. Our ALS units are staffed by paramedics trained to deliver advanced prehospital care for patients experiencing serious illness, injury, or medical emergencies.
Advanced Life Support ambulances are equipped with specialized clinical equipment and supplies, including cardiac monitors, 12-lead EKG capability, defibrillation, cardioversion, pacing, IV therapy supplies, advanced airway equipment, medication administration capabilities, oxygen therapy, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring.
Chapin Ambulance also provides paramedic intercept services. Our intercept vehicle allows a paramedic to respond directly to meet a Basic Life Support ambulance when a higher level of care is needed. This helps ensure patients receive advanced treatment as quickly and efficiently as possible while supporting local EMS systems and community partners.
Basic Life Support
Chapin Ambulance provides Basic Life Support ambulance services for both emergency and non-emergency medical transportation needs. Each BLS ambulance is staffed by certified Emergency Medical Technicians who are trained to assess, stabilize, treat, and transport patients requiring medical care.
Basic Life Support ambulances are equipped with essential emergency medical equipment, including trauma supplies, automated external defibrillators, oxygen therapy, airway management equipment, and other supplies necessary to care for sick or injured patients.
Our BLS crews provide professional, compassionate care during facility transfers, hospital discharges, appointments, dialysis transportation, emergency responses, and other medically necessary transports. Private-pay rates and scheduling information are available through dispatch.
Non-Emergent Medical Transportation
Chapin Ambulance provides non-emergent stretcher transportation for hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, healthcare providers, and patients who require safe medical transportation but do not require an emergency response.
Non-emergent ambulance transportation may be used for hospital discharges, facility-to-facility transfers, appointments, dialysis treatments, specialty care visits, and other medically necessary transportation needs. Our dispatch and operations team works with facilities and families to help coordinate the appropriate level of service based on the patient’s condition and transportation requirements.
Special transportation requests may be reviewed in advance to determine whether appropriate accommodations can be made. Long-distance ambulance transportation may also be available when scheduled ahead of time and properly coordinated with our dispatch team.
Wheelchair transport
Chapin Ambulance provides wheelchair transportation services for patients and clients who require safe, reliable transportation but do not require ambulance-level care. Our wheelchair vehicles are available for scheduled transportation to and from appointments, healthcare facilities, residences, and other approved destinations.
Wheelchair transportation can be requested through our dispatch center, where our team will help coordinate trip details, pickup and drop-off information, timing, and any special considerations needed for the transport.
At this time, wheelchair transportation is available by private pay only. Chapin Ambulance does not currently accept insurance payments for wheelchair trips. Private-pay rates are available upon request through dispatch.
Behavioral Health Transportation
Chapin Ambulance provides behavioral health transportation services with a focus on safety, professionalism, dignity, and respect. Our crews understand the importance of maintaining a calm, supportive environment while transporting patients experiencing behavioral health-related needs.
We work with healthcare facilities, emergency departments, crisis services, and other appropriate partners to help coordinate transportation based on the patient’s needs and the level of care required during transport.
Our goal is to provide dependable transportation while treating every patient with compassion, discretion, and professionalism.
Event Standby Services
Chapin Ambulance provides EMS standby coverage for community events, sporting events, private events, municipal functions, and other gatherings where on-site medical support may be needed.
Event standby coverage gives organizers access to trained EMS providers who can assess injuries, provide medical care, coordinate additional resources if needed, and support the overall safety of attendees, participants, staff, and volunteers.
Requests for event coverage should be made in advance to allow proper scheduling, staffing, and planning. Our team will work with event organizers to determine the appropriate level of coverage based on the size, location, duration, and nature of the event.
Long-Distance Ambulance Transportation
Chapin Ambulance may provide long-distance ambulance transportation when requested in advance and properly scheduled through our dispatch and operations team.
Long-distance transports require additional coordination to ensure appropriate staffing, equipment, timing, patient needs, and destination details are reviewed before the trip is confirmed. These transports may include transfers to specialty hospitals, out-of-area healthcare facilities, or other medically necessary destinations.
Because long-distance ambulance transportation requires advance planning, availability may vary based on operational needs and scheduling.
